Villa renovation by Salmond Reed

Simple and elegant, it is a great example of how good detailing can take a project from good to great. This project was a full villa renovation, incuding the extension to the living area shown that utilised the Peter Fell System inside and out.

Features of note include:

  • No stepdown between inside and out - by using a 150mm drain (filled with white pebbles after these shots were taken) there is no need to have a stepdown providing for seamless indoor outdoor flow.
  • Back step (and front step - not shown) also cast coloured concrete
  • Same colour used indoors and out
  • Seamless joint between concrete and timber internal floored areas
  • Concrete areas are elevated just under 1m above the ground, so Hibond flooring system was used.
  • The back steps and deck were beautifully crafted

Inside the concrete introduces a wonderful natural aesthetic while being very durable.
