Wairakei Golf Club, Taupo

Client: Wairakei International Golf Course

Architect: Rosetta Stone Arkitektur, Taupo, ,
Building Contractor: CJ Fisher Limited, Taupo
Precast Concrete: Kelvin O'Connor, Palmer Mill Construction,

Colour: PFL 172 from the Neutral range

Coloured decorative panels are not so common in NZ but they are offer up some fantastic opportunities.

The 125mm precast concrete panels were produced in the Palmer Mill precast yard in Taupo with concrete supplied by Firth. The timber effect was created by using rough sawn 150mm board laid very tightly to ensure a snug fit within the Reid Swift Form system - ensuring no warping or twisting and most importantly no leakage. Kelvin O'Connor of Palmer Mill further ensured tight butt joints by getting fresh sawn timber and used a dimension saw to clean the edge. Heated casting beds and a curing blanket were used to ensure uniform curing and hence minimise potential colour differences.

The client is absolutely rapt and rightly so as it is a great job that all involved can be justly proud of.
